I've been browsing a few websites for helpful resources, and I have recently found a few worth sharing.
Here are some great PDF files for your class presentations on Meal Management and Grocery Shopping. These resources can also be found at ChooseMyPlate or on Let's Move by clicking on the Eat Healthy box.
The first resource is a Plan, Purchase, and Prepare Food on a Budget worksheet. I think it would be great in a power point or smartboard. It demonstrates how to properly plan a week in advance, make smart purchasing decisions to ensure you're getting the best deal, and prepare meals in various ways to make sure you're getting the very most for your money.
The Smart Shopping Tips would be a good handout for students to take home to share with their families and post on their refrigerator. The tips included are great recommendations for saving time and money when purchasing fruits and vegetables.
And finally, the 7-Day Sample Menu is a great model for students to plan their own menus and to implement the information from the first two PDF files.
Feel free to comment and let me know what you think. Are there any other resources out there you've found helpful in the classroom? I'd love to hear about them.
