Helllllloooo...this is August speaking!

I love my work, I really do.  But every year I get anxiety about getting back to school and being ready for the year, the changes, the new classes, enriching the courses previously taught.

And well...I have to say sometimes I am crabby because it seems like everyone wants to fit one more thing into August when I just want to do nothing, and enjoy the calm before the storm.  It is more than likely selfish of me but it is the truth.

Remember me talking about using my time wisely this summer to prep for next year?  I did some, but not as much as I wanted.  I am not going to beat myself up though because, as I tell my students, "Something is ALWAYS better than nothing."

I hope that you are excited and ready for the new school year.

What are some of the challenges that you are facing this year?  Do you need help or have questions?  This is the place to post them!  We are FACS ALIVE......

Peace, Jane

P. S. Go read one more book and don't feel guilty about it!

Speaking of August anxiety...who hasn't had the "I'm not prepared" dream? It happens to me every year. The dream takes various forms and ranges from not being able to find my classroom, to not having copies made or enough materials, to being assigned to a subject I've never taught (like 7th grade Language Arts). Well, it happened last night. In my dream I didn't have any of the copies made for my Children Today class and the colleague (a former professor of mine) who ran to make them copied all of the wrong material! I guess this is my wake up call that the start of school is just around the corner and I need to get ready! I'd love to hear from anyone else who has had a similar dream/nightmare.
