Keeping FACS Alive: Celebrating a New FACS Career in Wisconsin

promoting-facs-guideThis summer Learning ZoneXpress has been asking teachers how they are keeping FACS Alive in their classrooms and schools. We were thrilled with the response and are happy to share the stories. We would love to hear from you! Help us spread the awareness of FCS in the classroom today and share your story with us. Long live “Home Ec”!

Today’s story…

Hello! My name is Julie Martin and I am beginning my journey with my FCS career! I am fortunate enough to be a teaching intern for a quaint Wisconsin town this coming Fall. I will complete my student teaching internship in December 2014. I will be teaching exploratory seventh and eighth grade Family and Consumer Sciences courses for my internship. I will be covering aspects of Health, Career Exploration, Hospitality and Career Development, Human Growth and Development along with aspects of Food Preparation. I find it so important that these students have the opportunity to explore all of these areas of content at such a young age. I am excited to continue to grow this program and increase awareness and education in Family and Consumer Sciences!
