We were thrilled with the response and are happy to share the stories. We would love to hear from you! Help us spread the awareness of FCS in the classroom today and share your story with us. Long live “Home Ec”!

I teach 7th and 8th grade girls and guys, Family and Consumer Science in Fishers, IN. Our school system, Hamilton Southeastern Schools still supports the junior high curriculum at three junior high schools. We teach food preparation, nutrition, meal planning, fast food survival, the importance of breakfast, kitchen safety, food safety, table setting, etiquette and manners, measuring, reading a recipe, cooking terms, kitchen equipment, dish washing, laundry, babysitting skills, caring for infant, toddlers, and preschoolers, and sewing by hand. Basting stitch, backstitch to create a pillow. We teach how to sew on a button., complete the hem stitch.

We are fortunate to teach life skills to this age group of 11-14 year olds.
