If you need another reason to get outside this summer, June is Great Outdoors Month! Take this opportunity to celebrate nature with your kids and students. Here are some ideas to get outside and connect with each other and with Mother Nature.
- Take a camping trip - Pack your bags and head into the woods for the weekend. It doesn't have to be far from home. Check out your nearest State Park for some available openings.
- Plan a picnic - This is an incredibly easy way to get in some quality family time. Pack some snacks and visit your local park. Throw a blanket down and soak up the scenery. This is also a great opportunity to spend time with your children and can prompt really great discussions. Being outside is good for the mind and body.
- Backyard Campout - Think outside the yard. Turn it into a fun camp out with the kids. Have a bonfire, roast marshmallows, pitch tents and tell ghost stories right from your back yard! This is a fun introductory option if you have little ones who are new to the camping scene.
Those are just a few ideas for enjoying the great outdoors with your family and friends this summer. Check your local events calendar for more ideas. Many towns and counties offer great summer activities! Do you have any ideas to share? Leave them in the comments below or post them to the Learning ZoneXpress Facebook page. We'd love to hear from you!
