Keeping FACS Alive: Creating confident students again in Texas

For two years the FCS lab was turned over to different classes. I taught Principles of Human Services in a regular classroom using small appliances when I did demonstrations.

NEXT YEAR I am back in the FCS lab! Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness is back on the board and I am thrilled to occupy the area I have grown to appreciate more than you know. Why the changes took place is not important. What is important is that students have been asking for the classes and somebody listened!

After 16 years teaching this very worthwhile discipline, I have heard from former students who comment that they learned self confidence and healthy eating and preparation practices in the Principles of Human Services and Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness that they use in their everyday lives. A mother of a two year old is using the recipes she learned in Child Development for healthy snacks for her toddler. She stated she is careful about what she feeds her child because Diabetes runs in her family.
