This summer Learning ZonExpress has been asking teachers how they are keeping FACS Alive in their classrooms and schools. We were thrilled with the response and are happy to share the stories. We would love to hear from you! Help us spread the awareness of FCS in the classroom today and share your story with us. Long live “Home Ec”!
I am the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Program Assistant in New Hanover County, NC. I offer lessons in meal planning and choosing healthy foods, cooking healthy meals and snacks, shopping for healthy foods on a limited budget and increasing physical activity to parents as well as to youth (grades K-12) in New Hanover County.
This FREE program gets participants active and excited about eating more fruits and vegetables, learning new cooking techniques and of course, saving money. Participating is easy. The class goes to the participants; meeting in convenient locations on a convenient schedule. Youth lessons are designed to be grade appropriate and match the learning standards that are targeted in schools. More information is available at http://www.ncfamilieseatingbetter.org/EFNEP/ or http://www.ncfamilieseatingbetter.org/EFNEP/.
