Amanda Herman, a Family & Consumer Sciences teacher at Northdale Middle School developed an after school FACS club where club members learned about the homeless and then DID something to help make a difference. Students met weekly to make fleece blankets, pillows, scarves and mittens that were given to homeless families and to two families dealing with breast cancer in her school district. Way to go Amanda for going above and beyond the call of duty to instill community awareness, compassion and self-confidence in your students!
