It's important to encourage your preschooler to move and play every day. All physical activity adds up. Try to aim for two hours of physical activity each day through a combination of structured activities, everyday movements, and free play activities.
Ideas for structured activities:
- Play games with friends like:
- Follow the Leader
- Ring Around the Rosie
- Freeze Tag
- Take a class
- Catch beanbags or our adorable plush Garden Heroes®
Ideas for free play (unstructured activities:
- Jump rope
- Skip and hop
- Chase bubbles
- Kick a ball
- Go on a nature hike
- Climb stairs
- Play with a pet
- Walk instead of riding in a stroller
- Help with the yard or garden
When children are physically active they have strong muscles and bones. They have more energy and are better prepared to learn. They maintain healthy body weights.
