There are two organizations available for FACS professionals: AAFCS American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the ACTE Association for Career and Technical Education. I bring this up because I'd like to encourage any FACS professional to check it out, see what the rest of the "team" is up to and hopefully become involved. I know that in my state of Minnesota, there isn't as much activity as we'd like to see.
For those of you that have not recently perused the ACTE web site please take a look and see the great information that the organization provides for each of the technical divisions of the organization. There are shared lesson plans, like this one about researching appliances as a consumer. You can also find policy information, webinars and much more. This organization keeps abreast with the goings on in Washington D.C. regarding funding and many other topics that involve our profession.
I'd love to know how you choose to be supportive, become active or stay involved with keeping FACS Alive. Send a comment if you'd like to!
