Twitter Party on Healthy Halloween

There’s a great conversation that’s happening every Tuesday about nutrition and making the world a little more nutritious for our kids. It’s hosted by Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on happens on Twitter. It’s a Twitter Party.

I know it sounds a little out there – but they’re fun and we’ve been learning a lot from them over the past couple of weeks. Last week the topic was School Health and Wellness Committees. Great tips – and a couple of laughs. This week they will be discussing Healthy Halloween – a topic that we think is timely and important. So we wanted to help folks get on board with some instructions on how to participate.

  • First, you’ll want a Twitter Account. It’s easy to sign up and free. Once you’re signed up I think it’s a lot easier to follow the conversation using a different tool called TweetChat.
  • Go to TweetChat, click on Sign In. The tool will ask for your permission to connect with your Twitter account, and you’ll want to approve that. Next you’ll see that it asks you to “Enter hashtag to follow”. Here’s a quick Twitter tip. Tweeters use a hashtag (#) to add tags or categories to their Tweets. To join the Food Revolution Twitter Party, you’ll want to enter foodrevparty.
  • Now when someone Tweets on that topic, you’ll see it in TweetChat. You can reply, ReTweet (means re-post) and favorite Tweets from here. You can also block or feature a particular Tweeter. When you post a comment on TweetChat, the hashtag will be added for you. One important reminder – you only get 140 characters per Tweet. TweetChat will track this for you.

It sounds confusing – but if you try it you’ll see that it seems to flow. If you’re more of a listener, you can skip the first step and follow the conversation on TweetChat without signing into Twitter or even having a Twitter account.

So why are we providing the tech support? Because we think this conversation is important and we want to promote it to more people. The next conversation will happen on Tuesday Oct 25 at Oct 25 7pmPST.

Final note – if you are on Twitter or get on Twitter, we hope you’ll check us out at!/LZXpress
