What are you doing for summer solstice?

ATTENTION PLEASE! Summer solstice will be June 21, 2017. Are you ready to enjoy the "longest" day of the year? We over here at Learning zoneXpress sure hope so!

The summer solstice (or estival solstice), also known as midsummer, occurs when a planet's rotational axis, in either northern or southern hemispheres, is most inclined toward the star that it orbits. This is the northern solstice in the northern hemisphere and the southern solstice in the southern hemisphere.

Make your summer solstice an exceptional one this year by doing something different. Go to a different park, try a new recipe, create a scavenger hunt; do something to recognize this day in a different way this year.

Looking for resources? Celebrate this summer with fun, seasonal activities, recipes, and healthy living tips found in the Let’s Make Spring & Summer Healthy Newsletter Handout. This newsletter tip sheet for educators and parents offers ideas to encourage more physical activity, a seasonal produce guide, riddles, tasty snack recipes, and more.  The newsletter features two healthy recipes including Cream-Filled Strawberries and Mediterranean Salad Skewers.

How are YOU going to celebrate the first day of summer? Let us know!
